Hello:

I used Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 to do a SQL database backup from a Windows 2000 server, call this server A, to a disk in a remote location.  Now I am doing a restore back to server A.  However, there is an error

Error category    : Server Errors
Error             : a000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.

In the Job Log, one of the lines says the following:
Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled

The restore target is server A, where Backup Exec is running!

Also, during the restore, the percent complete said 99% for a long time, but only 7k were written.  And the communication failure occured a few hrs after restore had been started.  I looked at the backup files from time to time, and noticed that Backup Exec gone thru each file, as it created a lock file for each backup file.

And, in this case, our SQL database has 5 data files.  During restore, Backup Exec put the first data file in the destination folder.  Later, it was deleted, while restore was still running.

Any idea why this occurred and how to resolve it?

Thanks,
