Windows XP Explorer sees two drives when there is only one - identical but different drive letters
Posted on 2006-11-09
Wonder if someone can help. I'm running XP Pro and I've just changed the PC case and reinstalled the HDDs and so on. XP is on a 74GB Raptor (C drive) and I also have two SATA drives.
Windows XP for some reason is now seeing them twice, listing them in explorer as:
Local Disk (C)
Docs 400GB (D)
Docs 400GB (G)
500GB SG SATA (I)
500GB SG SATA (J)
There are only two deves (bar the Raptor on C). If I double click on any one in Explorer it takes me to the disk fine, but calles it by the drive letter I clicked on.
In Disk management, XP only sees the two drives. They are marked NTFS and healthy. The Raptor is blue whilst the shading on the top of the other two is olive green (don't know if this makes any difference or sense!)
Any help greatly appreciated!
