Blackberry 4.X and Address Lookup

How does GAL lookup's work with Blackberry?

So when a user does a lookup on the Blackberry, the messaging agent on the Blackberry Server queries GAL on Exchange Server? My question is
- Does it directly access the DSproxy on Exchange Server to do the query? OR
- Does it connects to GC for a query? OR
- Does it uses the Besadmin account to do the query and return the results via MAPI?

Thanks in advance?

As the BESadmin client is a MAPI client it would access the GAL via MAPI.  BES uses the System manager as it's connection back to Exchange.

Hmmm. So how does BESadmin client work? As Outlook 2003 or Outlook 97? I mean does it use DSproxy for referal and points the MAPI client to the GC? Or does it proxy the requests to the GC and returns it back to the BES client.

In other terms Does BES Server needs to talk to GC's directly (like Outlook 2003) or just a connection to Exchange Server is sufficient.

Thanks
