Hello All:

We have SMS 2003 and are slowly learning the particulars of .msi based deployment to machines. Everything seems to be working properly however I do have one question regarding program advertisements.
I recently deployed a version of Windows Defender to my laptop as a test which went through successfully. The following week I manually removed the software on the laptop via add/remove programs. I then removed the advertisement of the SMS server and created a new mandatory advertisement for machine for the same software. Under the SMS advertisement status I see the site receiving the advertisement successfully. Then the last message in the viewer then tells me that:
“The program settings indicate that this program should only be run on computers wherever the previous attempt to run this program was not successful. The previous attempt to run this program was successful. This program was previously ran successfully at 2006/10/31 11:51:53. “
This message is correct however I would like SMS to install the software again because I manually removed it. How to you configure SMS to force the advertisement to install regardless of what the status was in the past?

Many Thanks!!

re-advertise it.  right click the advertisement in the SMS administrator console and choose re-run advertisement.  This should force it...
