How do I change computer owner information?

I have a Dell Latitude with XP Pro SP2.  I got it from a friend.  What I need to do is make this MY computer by changing the computer name (XYZABC-12345), where XYZABC is the start of his name, to id it as MY computer. I would also like to change ownership of XP Pro and Office 2003.  These were transferred to me legally and I have original disks w/ keycodes.  Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance

Here's how you change the registered owner name:

Alternatively, you could simply re-install XP and use your information for the install ... there won't be any activation issue, since that's based on the characteristics of the system (which haven't changed), NOT on the name of the owner.

Gary,

I found the answer last nite about the same time as this was posted.  Since the answer you provided was the correct answer, you get the points.

Thanks again for all your help.

You're welcome.   As I suspect you know, activation (which is what determines if a copy is "legal") is tied to the PC --> NOT to the owner;  registration (which is actually optional) is what identifies you as the owner.   But I agree it's nice to have the registration information reflect YOUR details and not the previous owners.
