Does any one know what is the largest tape I can use for a DELL pv 100t dds4 backup unit, I think its 20/40 , if so should I be able to get 40 gigs

DDS4 is 20/40, however youn't guarantee 2:1 compression.  I generally find 1.5:1 is more realistic average, but it very much varies depending on file type.
