free networking benchmarking tool?

any one know of a simple tool to do a ping test ever so often and create a log

will be doing just a ping to a text file and using excel if no one knows anything better.

ideally type in the Ips of various machines around the country and a graph is generated showing  peak times of usages (based on response time)

If you are interested in peak usage for Internet traffic in general, take a look at ITR (Internet Traffic Report).
http://www.internettrafficreport.com/

AnalogX ITR can track IPs by continent or the world and let you know when the Internet is experiencing problems. It also provides an index number on your task bar so you know how responsive the Internet (in general) is at all times.

If you're looking to track private IPs then Pingplotter is a fine utility.

VerifyMe,
Thanks for the PingPlotter link - That is one of the first ones that I was going to suggest, but I couldn't remember the name due to a lack of caffein!
