We need to get the number of physical CPU of each our server.

The "problem" here that hyperthreaded CPU are given as two CPU by any script (vb or other) we could find.

Is there a way to get the number of CPU in a different way ?

Example of an output :

Number of Physical CPU : 1
Hyperthreads on CPU : 2
Number of "virtual CPU : 2

Same with Dual Core .. although dual core are two CPU of course, but it would be good to get something like :

Number of Physical CPU : 1 (Dualcore)

Is there anything known we could use ? Even better would be a way to use it over the network ....

If you get the CPU type via the processor line

Processor      x86 Family 15 Model 1 Stepping 2 GenuineIntel ~1694 Mhz

That should give you enough info to determine exaactly what is in the machine.

You may have to get a table of all the different processors, but that single line will niquely determine the exact CPU type.

do a google search for a complete list or maybe MS or Intel will have one.

I hope this helps !
