Hi All,

I don't know what caused this, but my Dreamweaver fails to open anymore.

It also freezes on the initializing screen.

I am running Dreamweaver MX8 on Windows XP Home.

I tried a complete uninstall to no avail

Any help is great

Cheers,

Have you try reinstalling the app and the applying patches and see if that fixes the issue.
http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html
if that does not take care of the issue look at you current windows updates and see if any of those updates where installed when hte issue happened if you find any windwos updates remove and test then post back

Try deleting your temp files. If you are running Windows XP they are located under C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Temp

Then reboot.

Make sure that Dreamweaver is listed in your Firewall Exceptions list, and is ticked.  To check this, go into Control Panel, Windows Firewall, choose the Exceptions tab and Dreamweaver should be listed there.  If it isn't, it can be added using the Add Program button.

If you are using a different firewall, please let us know.

Sorry guys but none of these solutions worked.

It still freezes when opening the application.

I have disabled all firewall setting and still the issue comes about.

Any ideas here?

What Firewall do you have?  If it is Norton, then disabling it isn't going to er disable it.  Uninstalling it disables it, yes, but that is a drastic step.  What Firewall are you using?

I have also checked my firewall settings and all seems to be good for allowing DreamWeaver to run.

Adobe suggest that you startup your pc in Safe Mode and try running Dreamweaver in Safe Mode.  Does that work?  (No that's not a solution, it's an attempt to narrow the problem down).

Safe Mode: Keep tapping the F8 key upon switching on the PC, select Safe Mode from the menu.

Try using their instructions for manual removal:
