Clean Up of Exchange 2003 SMTP Logs

I've been unable to find an answer to this.  We are running Exchange 2003 and I have a large number of log files in the
program files\exchsrvr\smtp logs\smtpsvc1 directory.  The are all named ex date.log   for example ex060117.log.

Can I just delete all of these files with the exception of the current date or is there some other process I need to follow to free up the disk space.  I need disk space quickly.

Thanks,

Andy

Yes. Also, if you are not concerned with the logs you can enable circular logging to reuse the file so you dont end up with a lot of them but you will have the same issue as with deleting them if you want to troubleshoot a problem.

If you must, I would leave the current days logs and delete the rest. I would actually leave as many as you can stomach. If you have a problem and need the log for trouble shooting you'll be kicking yourself for deleteing them.

Basically, only delete what you absolutely need to.

I assume I can just delete them in windows explorer?  Some of the files are 6 -8 months old.

Thanks
