Is win2k server using added ram

I have a dell poweredge 600sc server running Windows 2000 server. It had 512mb ram, and I just added another 1gig stick. How can I tell if this machine is utilizing the Ram over  paging?  In task manager, the memusage seems to stay around 330mb even when running processes that are really taxing the processor.

If that is the memory usage then you are fine.
You need to see the perfomance tab, commit section, as long as the peak commited does not exceed your total 1.5 GB RAM then there is no real paging going on.

I hope this helps !

So is there any kind of tricks to force the computer to use up most of its ram while viewing the task manager?

I am not sure I understand your question.

Are you worrie that the information in task manager is incorrect ?

Probably not.

You can check the memory hogs by looking at the processes Tab, and sorting by RAM usage.

I hope this helps !

In addition, don't forget that CPU usage and RAM usage have no connection.

Just because the CPU is very busy does NOT mean you need or will use more RAM.

Each application has it's own requirements.

I hope this helps !
