asked on

IP routes for point to point T-1 Cisco 2600

I have just set up two router on a point to point t1 one here in houston and the other in mexico.
the routers see each other and ping each others ethernet interface but nothing beyond.

current IP routes we have in here are

Corp Router Houston 172.20.1.1

T1 router Houston 172.20.1.24 Ethernet0/0
                           10.0.1.1 Serial0/0

T1 router Mexico 172.20.207.238 Ethernet0/0
                           10.0.1.2 Serial0/0

Corp Router Mexico 172.20.207.1

Houston
ip route 172.20.207.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.1.2

Mexico
ip route 172.20.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.1.1

My Corp router has a map in it for 172.20.207.0 255.255.255.0 172.20.1.24

What am I missing?

ASKER

Also Tracert gets to the T1 router and dies

Tracing route to 172.20.207.238 over a maximum of 30 hops

  1    11 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  172.20.20.1
  2     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  172.20.1.24
  3     *        *        *     Request timed out.

so I know the Corp Router if functioning for it's end.
from Houston, which interfaces are pingable (ethernet and serial). Ping each one. also do u have RIP running on each router network??

Answered my own question,

needed to have

ip route 172.20.0.0 255.255.0.0 serial0/0 on the mexico side as wek have multiple segments. in the 172.20.x.x range
Please close the question then.
