This is probably a REALLY easy one... but I never use PERL. So I am not familiar with the usage.

There is a PERL script available at http://www.retards.org/projects/mysql/ called mysql_slow_log_parser

How do I go about actually using it?

I have installed ActivePerl on my server... and I have a slow_log file from mysql that I would like to parse using this script.

My real question is how to actually instantiate the mysql_slow_log_parser script.

The webiste for the script says:

Usage: mysql_slow_log_parser logfile

so my question is this... do I download the script available at http://www.retards.org/projects/mysql/mysql_slow_log_parser then save it as  mysql_slow_log_parser.pl?

I tried that... then went to the command line and used: mysql_slow_log_parser slow_log

There is probably a very simple answer to my question... but it is urgent.

Thanks in advance.

You can save it as mysql_slow_log_parser.pl then type
perl mysql_slow_log_parser.pl slow_log
or save it as mysql_slow_log_parser make it executable, and type
mysql_slow_log_parser slow_log
