The K7SOM is dead. I want to use all my components without doing a fresh reinstall of XP (i will just do a repair) therefore, I need a replacement motherboard for ECS Elitegroup K7SOM+ 7.5a. I think this is possible, but I do not know how to find what I am looking for. Does anyone have an answer?

Specs for this motherboard are as follows:

Processor:Socket A
Chipset: SiS740/SiS962L
RAM: 256 PC2700 333MHZ DDR - generic 32x64

You will have to do a repair Install of XP when you start the computer up with the new motherboard in order for the proper motherboard drivers to install.

PS. the repair install is used when you wnt to keep all the current data on your hard drive AS IS. But you should always backup any important data before hand.
If you are going to do a Clean install then you won't need the repair option.
