hi,

i have a printer attached ( hard wired) to a laptop with a USB connection.   This desktop system is attached to a network by cat 5 cable....
The router has wireless capibilities, so we attached a dell wirelss laptop to it, and we share an internet connection through a router.
i would like to allow the laptop to use the printers of the desktop.  how is that accomplished?

Assuming both PCs have access to the router, if the printers of the desktop are shared, the laptop user has access to them.

Go to Start > Printers (on the desktop). Right-click on the printer and select Properties. Click on the Sharing tab, and make sure the printer is shared. Also click on the Security tab, and make sure the laptop user is among the users that have permission to use the printer.

Then, on the laptop, run the Add Printer wizard. Select Networked Printer and browse to the laptop to install it.

Note that some USB printers are not networkable. It depends on the printer model
