If anyone has experience with registering a port with IANA, I would appreciate some guidance on the steps. &nbsp;I have consulted the IANA web site, and they refer to a process, but I have been unable to learn the details: how to apply, fees involved, other details of process. 
 
Here is the information I have been able to obtain. &nbsp;There is an implication that the port is accepted when the application is accepted.

The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151 
 
DCCP Registered ports SHOULD NOT be used without IANA registration. 
The registration procedure is defined in [RFC4340], Section 19.9. 
 
The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535
