Tool to Compare Multiple Documents for Similarities

I'd like to be able to compare a folder of document (student exams or final papers, for example) and have a tool tell me all the possible duplications in any of the documents (sentences, sentence fragments, etc).  Freeware is preferred.  Anyone know of any such application?
