hi, where can i purchase a replacement monitor cheap, for a whitebook laptop, a mitac model 8640 laptop.

Open the cover for the laptop's monitor and find the part numbers of the display, then google for that number. You'll probably get some good sellers on ebay or often you'll then also find companies that sell such parts.

ill do that, ill try to open it up asap. you mena to get the actual monitor/display units mfgr and model , and try to get thta, not from the 'casing mfgr'

Yes, because often the displays can be different for the same model of notebook, and to be sure it works you should use the same.
