I have a VB.NET app where I have a model dialogue (f.showDialog()).  Inside the modal dialog, I have a button that brings up an open file dialog.  When I click the button and select the file, the modal dialog closes.  Why?  How do I fix this?

Is the button marked as the Acceptbuttom or CancelButton on the form ?
If so, take that off.

A quick answer would be to take off the button and re-add it.
Try that and see if it makes a difference.
