hello All
need some help here !
currently have a windows 2003 server SP1, which is the DC,
have a another DC which is also a windows 2003 SP1 DC

the first dc is a hp pc which im looking to throw out the window.
i have a new dell server which has windows 2003 r2 which i would like to use as the new DC.
could someone please let me know what need to be done in order to do this ?
i have had a look on tech net, and all i can seem to find is that i have to upgrade to the current dc to r2 first.
is there a way where i can run the scheme tool on the two windows 2003 servers first and then add the R2 server to the network as a member server first and then run dc promo on it ?

Many thanks

Have you run the adprep command from the second R2 CD yet?

Once that is done you should be able to join it to the domain as a member (well that would work anyway of course...), reboot and dcpromo it.

leew has nearly all the options covered in the link above, no point re-inventing the wheel or re-pasting all the links.
