i have a vb6 program that connects to a sql 2000 database.

this program runs with no problems on my network.

however i have just setup a vpn.  when i run this program at my remote site, the first few times i recieved this error

-2147467259 (80004005)
data provider or order service returned an E_Fail status

but now i get the following error upon loading and cannot go any further

connection failed
sqlstate 'HY000'
error 0

a dialog box appears first asking for my login credentials for SQL 2000 which can either be trusted or just a straight user and password.

i have tried both but get the same error

what does this mean

This obviously relates to your VPN security.  Check to make sure that remote VPN connections are allowed to authenticate with the target SQL Server.

If you're not the one who set up the VPN, then I believe you should contact the Network Administrator (the person who set it up) about it.
