I have a backgroud in <table>, how would I stop it from tiling?

this needs to be done without CSS as it is used as a email signiture, thus we cannot use CSS

add a spacer that is 1 pix in size and a fixed distance.

the image is a transparency.

create an image and call it spacer.gif

Make it the same size in height or width of your background image.  whichever you use, the opposite length is 1 pix in size.  Set the image as a transparent .gif and place it in your table.  Create a column or row (depends on your need).

so for example if i want it to stop tiling vertically, i would:

<table background='test'gif'>
<tr><td><img src='spacer.gif'></td></tr>
