Thunderbird - How do I show folder 'summary' columns?

Running TB v. 1.5.0.8

In the v1, just above the "Local Folders" text on the left in the folder list, there was the little box in a toolbar you could click and bring up a context menu which allows you to add 2 columns: # of message in folder, folder size.

When I turn it on, I see this toolbar flash up there for a split second, then disappear!

How do I enable those summaries to be displayed ?

How do you have your views set up? View->Layout and select Classic View for the time being.

Now place your Cursor between the Folder listing and the Emails Listing until your get the Double Arrow left to right, click and then drag it to the right.  Does that help?

If not, what extensions do you have installed? You may need a new profile but first things first.

Another thought.  What Theme are you using?

Have you tried using the default theme yet?

You could try the Thunderbird (No Extensions) in the Programs folder under Mozilla Thunderbird.  This will disable all extensions and put the default theme in place to let you troubleshoot Issues.

Im dragging that toolbar over until it snaps shut. Im not seeing the button show up.

Also this is a fresh install on a fresh os (win xp registered patched its doing fine)

 .. just got the app running 3 days ago.

Its in classic view. Ive changed very little from the defaults that come with my versions install. No updates have been run yet.

Doh,

OK, Thunderbird go to Tools->Options->Advanced -> General Tab and select Show Expanded Columns in the Folder Pane and OK out of it.
