Outlook 2000: Can not close archive folder, 'object not found'

I try to close the archive folder and get the following exception:

The operation failed. An object could not be found.

I reseached this and found a few solutions, but none seemed to have fixed it.  The one that seemed closes was renaming the Archive.pst, creating a new one in Control Panel/Mail, deleting the new archive.pst and re-renamgin the old one back. Still same problem.

I dont' have the 'Services' option in my tools directlroy.

I ran scanpst against the file and there were no problems.

Other ideas?

Delete your entire Outlook profile in Control Panel, Mail and recreate from scratch.

Simon--thanks fro the response. Not having done this before, I have a few questions before I proceed. I have quite a few email accounts setup --will I have to reconfigure each account? Also, what will happen to my current e-mail?

Thanks,
Ed

Whatever is in the Outlook profile will have to be recreated. If you have more than one account then you will have to recreate all of those accounts.

If your email is stored in a PST file, then nothing should happen to the PST file. When you recreate the profile point it back to the current PST file and it will use that instead of creating its own. If the PST file is in the default location it should detect it automatically.
