ActiveSync Problem

Has anyone come across a problem with activesync which results in error
"support code 8504014 activesync encountered a problem on the server". This
occurs when trying to synchronise an HP IPAQ HW9515. OMA/OWA are both working
fine from inside and outside the network, SSL is disabled on exchange and
exchange-oma vd's in IIS, FBA is disabled in Exchange system manager I can't
think what else could be causing it. Help!

Sorted out now. Eventual settings that got rid of the problem were:

micorosft-server-activesync vd set to basic authentication only, default domain listed with netbios name
oma vd set to basic authentication only, default domain listed with netbios name
exchange-oma set to basic and windows integrated auth and listed with netbios domain name
exchange vd set to basic, integrated windows and listed with netbios domain name. SSL on.

I actually ran into the same problem once.  I spent quite some time trying to isolate the IIS setting that was causing the problem, but eventually just re-ran the Connect to the Internet Wizard, and it automagically fixed it.  I'd recommend running it in your case to get the settings back to their recommended settings.
