Using QuickBooks Offline?
I have a client who has three computers using QuickBooks, and two of those systems connect to the main computer to run the QuickBooks file.
The client wants to be able to scan in barcodes with a barcode scanner to track inventory. Their laptop is capable of reaching one of the inventory rooms while connected to the network, however they have a remote inventory warehouse with no connection of any kind.
Is there a way for this laptop to go to the remote warehouse, scan everything in that's needed, then just synchronize the changes with the master computer when they return?

That's how the laptop is used with the onsite inventory room, the network reaches and the laptop can access the fileserver's files to update them.
Does QuickBooks store a local copy that then has any changes uploaded or is there a way this can be set up?

I don't think that offline files will accomodate this because of the methods it uses. Is a wireless access point and wireless network card out of the question? You could use the laptop with a wireless connection and the updates would be immediate to the inventory.
