Do you have any other Applications running which might stop the Installer from accessing files or the registry?
Retry the installation with all applications ended, if that does not work, boot in safe mode and try again.

To Boot in safe mode go to:
Start > Run > msconfig > BOOT.INI Tab > /Safeboot > OK

you will be asked to reboot, do so and once the machine started again it will load the Safe mode. On the next restart you get a prompt again if you wish to return to normal mode. Select Yes.

Hi Damian,

This may be related to this technote:

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=785362aa

The 8.02 updater is really touchy and Adobe officially blames InstallShield.  You may have to uninstall DW, wipe the directories, reinstall it, re-apply the update.

Also, try going from 8.0 to 8.01, then 8.02 and see if you have better luck.

Hi Venabili,

I'm willing to bet this is the same issue as Q_22064320.html (once the updater fails, you have to unintall/wipe/reinstall).

Not sure if you can award points on my bets, though.
