Exchange help needed

Hi
I have a customer that changed his Business dsl service and received a new static ip address.  Now the problem starts with the previous supplied modem had a private ip range starting at  10.10.10.x.  The new Router supplied with a modem is configured and limited to the 192.168.1.x.

My first question is how is a domain controller with Ad itergrated DNS going to respond to a change to its new ip address

I thought it would just compile new records in time.  In sight to this would be great.

Note: when i perform a "nslookup -querytype=mx  domain"     the results are the previous ip address assigned to the mail server which happens to be the on the same dc.

Is your mail server getting an IP by DHCP from the router? I do not understand clearly your question.
Why don't you change the IP of the router from 192.168.1.x to 10.10.10.x?
ehabsalem has a good point,  must DSL modem/routers Private network IPs can be change.
usually by using your browser or telneting to the device
I would strongly suggest changing the router as well.
If they are using VPN or other remote access to the server then you will have problems. Almost every router on the market uses either 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x. If you are using that internally then you will have problems with confused machines accessing the network remotely.

I wanted to thank everyone for their input.  The change of the private IP scheme wasn't that bad.
the problem I had was getting the ISP to change the mx record.  On my side i needed to go into the the exchange virtual SMTP server and change the ip address on it.   The tools that IKM7176 linked to me were useful in resolving this issue.

Thanks again,  Rob
