Network Back-up Strategy
I am trying to develop a sound back-up strategy for the network I manage and was wondering if I could get some opinions. We are a 75 user network that operates 24 hours a day everyday but Sunday. I have a Dell 22 slot autoloader using 200/400GB LTO tapes. I am currently taking a full backup Monday through Saturday which contains approx 135GB of data. I have created a media pool in back-up exec for this job, pooling together 18 tapes. I then take another full back-up on Sunday when the plant is closed and then take that tape offsite. The Sunday tape is the only one that leaves the building.
Does anyone have any opinions on how I can improve this strategy? We use Back-Up Exec 9 with all of the agents, SQL, Exchange, etc. The back-up takes 2.5 hours with another 2 hours to verify.

The data being backed-up would all be considered critital. It is database back-ups, a file server, and Exchange.
This is spread over 3 servers. There is no official requirment as to how long the data must be retained so I am trying to design somethign from scratch.
The SQL jobs are done through the maintenance plan and sent to disk first then picked up on the tape.

Are there multiple system's being backed up or just one with multiple services? What are your requirements for the data? How many weeks back do you need to be able to restore an item, file?
An option is to distribute the full backs of individual systems by day and perform incremental backups during the rest of the week.
The use of incremental will likely introduce a delay in restoration from scratch.
For SQL, are you using the SQL's maintenance plan to perform differential and full backups locally (to drive versus to tape)?
