Delphi client/server application - performance issue

Hello Experts,

I developed a client/server application that runs very well inside an intranet. However, it performs poorly when used over the internet. Since the database I currently use is DBISAM I am considering porting the application to Oracle. Still, I am not sure if replacing the database server will provide any benefit.

Most of the performance issues are related to my implementation. For example:

while not table.eof do begin
  // some code;

Loops like that are really slow over the internet. Does anyone know if Oracle would provide a better performance in such cases.

Thanks in advance!
