Memtest, Simmtester/DocMemory take too long, don't get results

Both Memtest and Simmtester/DocMemory have run for over 30 minutes whenever I've used them, so I give up.  Surely a PC guy who works on site, who is testing RAM as one of 50 possible causes of a problem (.eg. freezing), isn't supposed to wait that long for a memory test?

Is there a simpler faster version of these RAM tests?

Also -- Is there a way to simple way for a newbie to read the above 2 tests without having to do lots of research/learning?  e.g. do they have a simplified mode, or a final summary at the end?
(I only use ram testers about 1ce every 6th months...)
