Windows 2003 Domain Built-in Account

When trying to delete a domain user account from Active Directory it says that the account cannot be deleted because it is built in. This account cannot be disabled either.

The Windows 2003 domain has been previously upgraded from Windows NT 4.0 then to Windows 2000 then to Windows 2003.

Have checked the group memberships of the domain account in question, but can't seem to see anything out of the ordinary.

Is there such a thing as a built-in domain account?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can delete this account from AD?
