Exchange Virtual Server Will Not Start

I don't have remote access to my server as of a few days ago. In Server Management Monitoring and Reporting I get "Page cannot be found". Drilling down through Exchange under Protocols\HTTP the Virtual Exchange Server is stopped and will not start again, giving an error of "Cannot Create a file when that file aready exists", ID: 800700b7. In IIS the Default Web site is stopped and will not start, with a message of "Unable to start site. Another site may already be using the port configured...."

Users cannot get to OWA or Remote Workplace. The Exchange Server seems to be working fine otherwise. In an attempt to fix this problem I installed SP2, successfully, but no change for the Virtual Server.

How can I repair this?

I can't make any sense out of that thread. There are similarities but I don't see the clear path to correcting my problem. Is it creating a new virtual server? Why is the Default Website stopped and why won't it start again? Is there a connection? How about ATIG chiming in on this?

Thank you for your response. I will do that as soon as I can get to the site.
TechSoEasy,

Here is the text:

Description      Identifier      State      Host header value      IP address      Port      SSL Port      Status
Default Web Site (Stopped)      1      Stopped            * All Unassigned *      80      443      Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
Microsoft SharePoint Administration      2      Running            * All Unassigned *      5876
SharePoint Central Administration      3      Running            * All Unassigned *      8081
companyweb      4      Running      companyweb      192.168.1.1      80      444
I modified the default web site to include a host header value and it now works. I can access OWA and Remote Web Workplace, and the Monitoring and Reporting screens are back. Thats all it was. Amazing.
Please indicate to me who should receive the points and I will award them.
That was the wrong way to resolve your problem.  The default web site should NOT have a host header.  The problem is because you don't have a correctly configured loopback address.  Please remove the host header and then see this KB article for the fix:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842693

I removed the host header. The loopback address was configured properly, so that wasn't it.  Regardless, it's working again. I don't know why. Who gets the points? Let me know and it will be done.
Indicating who gets the points is your job.  If you need help to understand how EE works, then please see:
