SCO OpenServer 5 scsi disk, need to mount it in a different machine for data recovery. HELP!

Hello!

I have a scsi hard drive with SCO OpenServer 5 on it (unknown revision, just says 5 on the boot screen). The disk is OK but the original hardware took a power hit. I need to access some files on the disk and copy them to a PC readable medium (FAT/NTFS/ETC).

What I have:

The SCSI disk which fails to mount the rootfs on bootup and halts

A SCO install CD-ROM with which I made install disks, but I do NOT have a SCSI CD-ROM so I can't do install!! (wasted all day trying to get a wd driver to work).

I need to get to mount /dev/u at point /usr2

PLEASE HELP. Lots of points will be rewarded, I will be posting many other questions on this topic today I am sure. Thanks.

ASKER

OK I found an article recommending that I boot the install floppy and press F8 when the setup program launches. This allowed me to get to a shell prompt. I did a mknod /dev/root b 1 42 successfully.

But now there is no fsck command available and when I try to mount /dev/root /mnt I get an error saying mount: Bad address

Thank you very much for any assistance.
