Award Bios beep code
Hi,
I am trying to identify what the beep means on the following motherboard:
Asus A8N-E
My friend recently replaced his fan with a new NorthBridge fan and now on start up he is getting the following beep code:
2 short beeps followed by 3 beeps.
He has tried replacing the RAM with sticks from a machine that are known to be good, and removed all other hardware that might be causing problems: the Graphics card, hard drives and all other cards etc. but still gets the beep code.

Well then,,
If when you plug in the New Fan cause the beep, the cause may in your Power Supply but even without new fan you still got the beep can be board components ( onboard graphics memory).

Just had a word with Hercule Poirot and he said that if things were working fine until you changed the Fan then logic would dictate that its the Fan. !!
Maybe its drawing too much current, so try another one !!
There does not appear to be a beep code which matches up with the ones you have so change the Fan.
You might as well you have changed everything else !!
Regards Cliff

I suspect that something worked loose while changing fan. Beep code is video adapter in my experience.

Thanks for your input, here is some feedback:
1.The processor fan and slot was never removed but I will try that when I get home.
2.I have already tried different ram, with no joy, but I will try taking the ram out altogether.
Any other ideas here?
