loading personal settings seems to hang for a few minutes

When our users login to our Citrix Portal, they complain that it takes a few minutes for there personal settings to load in the progress bar that popup's show the progress.  I have logged in myself and it seems to hang just after negotiating capabilities part.  for me it took around minute and a half and then Citrix continued to login fine.

We just patched both Citrix Farms and the CSG server with latest hotfixes.  I also upgraded to Citrix Web Client 9.230 thinking this would fix the issue but it didnt.

I also deleted my Citrix profile and another test users profile and still the same thing.  Like i said above, Citrix works fine after the personal settings section finally loads...

Has anybody had this issue or currently experiencing the same?

The problem stems from the user sid recorded in the roaming profile not reconciling and creating the local profile on the citrix server (is c:\documents and settings\%username%.

I noticed for the users who took over 7-10 minutes to load personal settings (eg Rickr and Maxc) that when they did eventually log on, there was no c:\documents and settings\%username% being created at all on the citrix server.(so you cant just delete their local profile from the server)  got this from profile log file on citrix server loading with this error -   GetProfileSid: No Guid -> Sid Mapping available.

In the registry of citrix server there is this key for local  profile list  - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ - once the user has "eventually after 10 minutes " - logged on they will have a matching sid key for their username - you do a search for \tsprofiles%username% or \profile\%username in this key - depending if user account has tsprofile or just profile/roaming

logged in as admin If you search this key  list for the username of offender - ie Rickr you find the corresponding sid key for him. and to fix this issue you MUST FOLLOW THIS EXACTLY

1. logged in as admin  First export that key to a reg file. - save on desktop

2. You then delete the key

3.  I found you    MUST DO THIS  ODD STEP  - You then log on as the user to "Landcorp Desktop" - The user will not log in - it  will check credentials and then IE  screen will just close disappear.

4  Logged on as admin to "citrix"  You then double click your saved reg file to import the user profile crap  back in - this re-registers the entry for the problem user - and all is good - the user then gets his profile created in c:\documents and settings\  and the log-in time is back to a few seconds.

Halleluiah Amen!! - I know this is chicken shit but it does work - I arrived at this from trial and error. The log file helped a bit which is on the citrix server admin desktop in folder shortcut to usermode and the log file is userenv.log - this gives a millisecound account of each step during a login to the server.
