FF and IE compatible center of viewable screen

I need a JS function to capture the center of the viewable screen.  I want to position an object in the exact center of the screen each time I call it's function.  Once I have a way of getting the viewable center, I can subtract my object height and width to position it.

(height of window - height of object) / 2 + scrolled Y offset

Same for the width and scrolled X offset should position my object in the exact center of the vieable screen after scrolling.

Thanks,

Traigo
