When creating a linked server connection to a CSV file and the column in the CSV file is numeric, any record in that column which has a length >= 10 is passed to the SQL Server as a NULL.
This does not happen when Bulk Insert is used or when the file is created as comma-delimited text.
Here are the Linked Server settings:
provider= 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
srvproduct ='Jet 4.0',
provstr = 'Text'
Could it be that we are using the incorrect provider or srvproduct?
