Dear all,

My client just dumped a cisco router on me.  I did my CCNA but it was 6 years ago so I'm rusty to say the least.  I needed to permit incoming port tcp 1986.  I managed to add the port to a named access list, and it showed up under "show address-list".  However I have two problems.  I still could not get out in that port, and now to make matters worse for no apparent reason I now cannot telnet in to the router.

HELP!

I don't know how to regain access to the router.  Serial cable isn't an option as my client is 1000 miles away, so it's telnet only I'm afraid.  Secondly why didn't my access list change take effect?  I still cannot get traffic in via port 1986.

Thanks in advance guys and gals...all help much appreciated.
