RMAN QUESTION's

Oracle Database

Hi,
    Another newbie question. Im running this Oracle suggested backup scheduled through EM ( below is the script).  Oracle automatically generates this script when scheduled through EM.. The Oracle suggested backup does not include any ARCHIVE LOGS in backups script (does it include??).

run {
allocate channel oem_disk_backup device type disk;
recover copy of database with tag 'ORA$OEM_LEVEL_0';
backup incremental level 1 cumulative  copies=1 for recover of copy with tag 'ORA$OEM_LEVEL_0' database;
}

My RMAN Configuration parameters are as follows,

CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 1 DAYS;
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON;
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F';
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 2 BACKUP TYPE TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET;
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT   '%U' MAXPIECESIZE 50 G;
CONFIGURE CHANNEL 1 DEVICE TYPE DISK CONNECT  'SYS/sys123@DB123';
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/u01/controlfile/snapcf_DB123.f'; # default

My Question: Im not using any RECOVERY CATALOG. Now, i have gone through some RMAN documents and to my understanding, inorder to create and store RMAN backup scripts, we NEED to have a RECOVERY CATALOG in place.
     1) Is it mandatory to have RECOVERY CATALOG if at all we need to schedule backup(daily) using RMAN scripts?
     2) In my RMAN configuration parameters, im have not configured any IMAGE COPY. Does the Oracle Suggested backup
         automatically create a image copy and the RETENTION POLICY OF 1 day is not applied to this IMAGE COPY right?
     3) the CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE is not deleting archivelogs older than 1 day. I read that
         if this is not configured, then DELETION POLICY will take RETENTION POLICY (here 1 day) into account. what might
         be wrong here?
     4) Does RMAN configuration parameters run every time we issue a backup command or only if we include (like backup archive log) individual items in backup script?

I have gone through many documents but still got these dumb questions. Please help me. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Harris.
