asked on

software needed to take music from dvd to convert to mp3

I have some dvd's that have music on them that I would like to put on a cd and play in my car.  I bought the cd but they don't have all the songs on it that the dvd does.  What software can I use or buy that would take the music off of the dvd and put it into mp3 format or another format that will work good for playing on my cd player?
I have already purchased roxio creator media 9 and that stuff sucks.  It was a waste of my money.

yes roxio sucks agree..
Another option, kind of perminent but not too expensive,
buy a new audio card sound blaster, they price around 125 dollars.
I buy from here but there are many sites
http://www.i-tech.com.au/Search.aspx?keyword=sound%20blaster
Ebay

This card comes bundled with media source whcih can record what you hear straight from your speakers and save them as mp3.
Anything you play in your media player any medi layer as it plays thru yoru speakers can also be recorded the same way, I use it sometimes to record live streams using Winamp and shoutcast radio.

Click on the create in the toolbar provided here you can access the demo of everything. Its awsome recording music is so easy.

Which soundblaster?
Hi,

You can record "what you hear" on your sound device by using this freeware software, you could try it as well:

I use this one it works awsome just select stereo mix as you input.
this will record what your listening to in your media player,or dvd player
For music cd or what you hear
I suggest you use winamp/ windows media player is too complex and probably will be a pain.
Just use the free version its brilliant
http://www.winamp.com/
you'll know when its recording when you see the graph's working.
run a few tests first as a cdrom audio out put device could be different.
make a donation as its a great tool.

I have tried all of the softwares that were referred above and have had no luck with any of them.  Just to be sure everything was working ok on my computer, I reformated the hard drive, did all the updates and downloaded the softwares.  The first one seemed to work but failed with Goldwave. I have tried a number of times with Goldwave but I am unable to change the file to a wav file. On the new soundcard, I am not about to go out and spend $125.00 on some software that I have no idea if it works.  I already spent o $80.00 on Roxio Easy Media Creator and found that was a waste of money. That programs doesn't do anything. If you look at the website for Roxio, it seems everyone who every bought the program is logging in to get help which is almost none.
I tried winap and mp3 but I must be doing something wrong on that software too.

Bingo- Works greats great.  I had tried it as a CD earlier and the sound wasn't really recording correctly.  I just played with it following your instructions, (had to put it on stero mix) and it worked great.  Thanks a bunch.
great :) I am glad you finally solved it, yep it sure does work a treat I couldnt believe it was free too.
I had to use stereo mix too, well you have a great tool at your finger tips now anything you hear in the speakers like playing media online too you can record.
You are welcome and thank you
