How to disable the Shutdown reason dialog box
G'day
Is it possible to disable the Reason request dialog when SBS restarts after an unplanned shutdown? I have an application that runs at login and if the server has to restart (as it did today when the UPS shut the server off after blackout) it sits at the login prompt waiting for a reason to be given be fore auto login takes place. I know auto login is not ideal but I do have physical security on the server and no one can access it with authorization

I know. I've been flat out here last couple of weeks. Everything I touch explodes/crases/BSOD or develops a hardware fault. What are the odds of getting two faulty motherboards in a Server within 2 days? Oh the hummanity.
I will try. I am getting closee. I can almost taste the glory

robjeeves,

Not as astronomical as you'd like to think. I once had a Dell 6450 server's mainboard fail... 4 hour service replaced it... with a board that wouldn't boot past post... then the next board, the onsite tech broke a pin (that was probably bent before he got to it) and finally, the third board worked... so that's 4 boards in 16-20 hours.
This is what frustrates me about hardware vendors - I know they use refurb boards... and I actually have NO PROBLEM with that... for the FIRST replacement. But if a second - for ANY reason - is required within 90 days - they should be sending you a NEW board...

I hear ya leew. The engineer said it's all refurb/benchtested returns. Doesn't inspire me with confidence as my Mobo in the server passed all the confidence tests but still BSOD on me. If that's the kind of tests Dell perform then send it out as good as new no wonder I and other like me get lumbered.
