VPN access via another VPN?

A quick question on VPN's.

Say we have three offices. UK, US, Japan.

UK is connected via VPN to US.
US is connected via VPN to Japan.
There is no direct VPN configured between UK and Japan.

Can someone in the UK still access a server in Japan by RDP'ing to a machine the US, and then RDP'ing from that machine to the Japan?

It would be better to have the UK and Japan connected by VPN as well, but these offices are using smaller PIX 506E models. Does anyone know at the top of their head how many VPN's it can handle without performance issues?

Urgent query so max points.
