Cant remove server from ESM

Last Modified: 2010-03-06
Dear Experts

We have recently upgraded from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 Enterprise Cluster. We migrated all the mailboxes and public folders etc to 2003 and it is working fine. In ESM there is the old server showing. We tried to do a clean uninstall of exchange from the old 2000 server but got the error message

Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisities for the component "Microsoft Exchange Server": 0x80072030 (8240). There is no such object on the server.

I read that if I the server was going to be totally decommissioned, remove it from the domain and I should be able to remove the server from ESM, however, trying to do that causes the same error message.

I have followed the KBs to ensure everything has migrated and is using the new 2003 server but I still can remove the old server.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks.
