What is the difference between a Socket and Port?

What is the difference between a Socket and Port?  For example...SSL and Port 3389?  And if you can please tell me the OSI layer that something like SSL runs at.

SSL is TCP port 443? - 3389 (Im guessing you mean TCP 3389 aka RDP)

SSL (or any data encryption) happens at the Presentation layer.
Nice explanation, Pete...  :)  I was going to add content to the thread, but cannot think of anything else to say..
