Upgrade to BES 4.1 SP2 from BES 4.0 broke the attachment server

Hi all,

I have a situation where users on my BES server can no longer view attachments.  This broke during a major upgrade from Windows 2000/Exchange 2000/BES 4.0 SP?? to Windows 2003/Exchange 2003/BES 4.1 SP2.  Just to explain the order of events, I performed the Windows upgrade first, then Exchange, then BES.

The attachment service is running on the server, but the users still cannot download attachments.

Does anyone have any thoughts here?  I'm no BES expert, but I'm comfortable enough using the various programs and such.  I just am at a loss for new things to try.

Thanks!

Jeff

Open Blackberry Server Configuration from the Startmenu.  Select the Attachment Server tab. Make sure connector configuration is selected from the dropdownlist. Have a look at the "Format extensions". You will have to specifiy every file type you would like to be able to view on the BB device in this list. It should look like doc:dot:xls:pdf:.... I had to add a few image types after my upgrade. Not sure if it worked before.

You need to restart one of the BB services but I cant remember which one so I suggest just restarting them all. After that it should work again.

Hi,

I just wanted to post back with the solution.  The problem had to do with the port settings for the attachment server.  The connector configuration and attachment server settings differed.  The upgrade changed one of them but not the other (and they need to match).  Changing them back to their defaults solved the problem.

Thanks for your help!
