Routers

I have a problem that i cant seem to figure out how to solve, so i'm asking the experts to help.

My router is a Linksys WRT54GS router with wireless features that i use,

My wireless nic card is a Dlink - DWL 520

They operate on frequency 802.11g

Or atleast my router is keyed to that frequency,  I'm not sure about the Nic.

i'm assuming that they are compatable being that i havent had a lag problem till now.

Now as of late my connection has had some erradic spurts of lag,  I like to play online MMO's and i've noticed while the spurts are not very long, they do tend to disrupt my play at certain times.

I've decided to moniter my network connection via the task manager and i've noticed that my link speed is normalized at 11.0mb  the spikes accually happen quite frequently , lowering the link speed to 5.0mb and even 2.0mb  for about 1 or 2 seconds and then it shoots right back up to 11mb,  This used to not be a problem and i'm starting to think either my router needs to be replaced. or the nic card needs to be replaced.  Or i could be wrong all together and simply may be ignorant of something.  I'd appreciate some input on this issue i'm having,

Thanks in advance.

Drew.

PS.  I dont have a secure network set up with a wep key or anything like that,  I have noticed very weak signals of other wireless networks around my house that fluxuate in and out of my networks range when i have tried to resetup my own wireless network,  Perhaps someone is stealing something that i'm not aware of?  Just another thing i thought i'd throw out there.
