Networking and Antivirus Protection

I just installed McAfree on my daughters computer as she has been working without one for a while.  (Can't believe it, either)Also  I installed SpyDoctor and PC tools Regestry.  It is clean now. But I keep getting a message that says that McAfree isn't compliable with WindowsXP   What is the reason for that?  Also, they have a computer in the house that they network with and I have not worked with Networking before, so I wasn't sure if it has to have the same  AntiVirus program on it as the main house one.  How does that work?  I know that they are  working to get a Trojan Busky off it so they haven't been together recently.  That seems to be a pesky one to get off.  This one is clean though,  scanned it several times.  What is the next thing we should do?  Thank you,,, jannet55

It doesn't matter what antivirus each pc has, we have 3 pc networked, one with Norton,(comes with new pc) one with AVG and mine is free Avast.

I wouldn't recommend SpyDoctor as antispyware, it gives you false positives.
SpyDoctor, an application which should not be confused with Spyware Doctor, a completely different application from a different company.
There are many legit antispyware out there that are also free like Windows Defender, AdAware SE, Spybot

For the pc with trojan Busky, can we look at a hijackthis log?
Please download HijackThis 1.99.1
http://www.cyberanswers.org/forum/uploads/HijackThis1991.exe
http://danborg.org/spy/hjt/alternativ.exe
Open Hijackthis, click "Do a system scan and save a logfile" don't fix anything yet.

Then upload the logs to any hosting sites,
or go to the below link and login using your Experts-Exchange username and password.
http://www.ee-stuff.com
Click on "Expert Area" tab
type or paste the link to your Question
"Browse" your pc to the location of your Hijackthis log and click "Upload"
Copy the resulting "url" and post it back here.

OR: paste the log to either of these sites:
1. http://www.rafb.net/paste/
then at the bottom left corner click "paste"
Copy the address/url and post it here.

2. or at --> http://www.hijackthis.de/
and click "Analyse", click "Save".  Then post the link to the saved list here.

Hi,
have you installed a genuine copy of mcafee? if yes, you can check with them as they should be supporting thier product.

If No is your answer, try CA Antivirus 2007 1yr free trail, i have it on my pc and i sure am going to purchase the software once the trail expires. its simple fantastic, nothing to be done manually - fully automated.

You can also go for AVG Free Edition and ZoneAlarm Free Firewall.

I understood that i end up getting lots of spyware and virus only if i use pirated apps, downloaded, cracked by/from third party vendors/groups.

Stick with hgenuine stuff and u can get them to support you.
If you need any help, pm me on ***email address removed by rpggamergirl, PE*** - i will be online for most of the day.

How do I make sure it is a genuine copy of McAFree?  I thought it was their website I downloaded it from!
If you downloaded it from their website that is legitimate.  What satis was referring to is sometimes people copy their disks and then pass them out to others, this is pirating and leaves you without any support, not to mention it is illegal.
What version of mcafee do you have, and I will try to find out how to solve that error message you are getting?
