ATI X1400 Card Issue

Hi all. I have just bought an IBM Thinkpad R60 with following specs:

Intel Duo Core 2 GHz
1 GB RAM
100 GB HDD
ATI X1400 – 128 MB (But it keeps showing 512 MB.... wonder WHY ???)

The problem is that the performance of games is not good. Some games run great but other are either too slow or don’t run at all (eg Need for Speed Most Wanted runs fine but NFS Carbon just wont run and Cricket 2007 just runs slow some times and sometimes runs smooth without any problem).

I have tried searching the latest driver at both ATI and Lenovo websites but all in vain.

Can some one tell me what could be the problem here. If I need new drivers where can I find them.

Thanx.

How about limiting the number of background running programs on your computer (bottom right of taskbar).

Also, you may have to tweak the settings per game to optimize performance.  Running "a" game at max specifics would require that your hardware is at foremost capable.

i am running the game on LOWEST SPECS. and if the backgroung programs are an issue the they should always be an issue.

Why is it that some times the game runs perfect and smooth and sometimes it gets too slow to play comfortably ? does it have anything to do with the graphics card? if yes please let me know the link where i can download the latest driver... !

thanx

Is that what was posted after you download and ran the catylst?
Nice to be ignored but, once again, this is an integrated video system that is on the motherboard of the laptop which may not have the capabilities you need for the NFS Carbon.
You need to go to the manufacturer of the laptop for the video driver. Here is the link for the driver. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62841
You will also need the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed before you install the video drivers.
