Sony laptop won't power on

Sony PCG-115KM laptop won't power on after lightning storm.
Changed fuse in power supply 'brick' but won't switch on using battery either.
Where should I look first?

HI

Try with a diferent "brick" and with no battery. If nothing happens, your M/B is toasted. Send it to warranty (if possible), or if you have any kind of insurance...

Before sending the laptop off, check the voltage on the a/c adapter with a volt meter.  The expected voltage should be imprinted on the adapter.

OK thanks,
I'll test the a/c adapter, although, it doesn't work with battery either.
Well if the a/c adapter is bad, the battery could just be dead because it won't charge. Just might save you the headache of boxing up the laptop, it's a long shot, but only takes  a few minutes to check, unless you can't find a multimeter...<smile>
check if it boots to a display witrh everything removed : disk, cd, extra cards
try also without ram - anything?
Thanks for the grade...bummer on the deal...but..

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
